On February 1, 2010, the Swedish Tall Ship "Gunilla" will sail in to Tampa Bay. The 165 ft. ship is crewed by 11 professional sailors and 44 Swedish high school students. Part of the Swedish school system, this sailing classroom educates a new generation and fosters a more sustainable future through cultural exchange and experiences at sea. A fully working tall ship, Gunilla is beautiful in her own right; that she has such a global purpose involving young people creates even more magic.
Take the extraordinary opportunity to talk with young people who are a long way from home, learning lessons taught by the sea, and the people they meet. STUDENT GUIDED TOURS OF THE SHIP ARE FREE and available by request between February 1 and February 7, 2010. Send an email to: master@gunilla.nu.
LOCATION: Gunilla will be secured in port alongside the American Victory Ship Museum, located directly behind the Florida Aquarium in Downtown Tampa Channelside. TO LEARN MORE about the voyage, the ship and her crew, read the daily log written (in english) by the students on board.
