Prepare for FCC Ownership Hearings
cowley about over 2 years ago
On Tuesday, April 20, the FCC will hold a public hearing in Tampa to consider ending their longtime ban on cross-ownership, which would allow a single company to own the newspaper and the television or radio station in the same market.
The Prometheus Radio Project will be at WMNF on Saturday, April 17 from 2-3:30 p.m. to hold a workshop on today's fast-changing media ownership landscape. They'll explain cross-ownership, the Comcast/NBC merger, Net Neutrality, low-power radio and critical issues for independent media, to prepare interested citizens for Tuesday's public hearing.

Fantastic! The FCC Field Hearing is very important as the issues they will be addressing are critical in keeping the publicly owned radio and television frequencies under the control of the citizens of the U.S. and maintaining the free flow of information and our democratic government. This must be a high priority event for all patriots who value this country and it's democratic form of government of, for and by the people. The Prometheus Radio Project was here in the Tampa Bay area on Thu. 26 April, '07 before the last FCC Field Hearing in Tampa on Mon. 30 April, '07 and conducted a pre-Hearing Workshop event that was excellent. Plan on attending this Workshop! This will be very valuable in preparing to attend the hearing and preparing to speak before the FCC Commissioners at the Hearing, if you choose to speak. Many Tampa Bay activists spoke to the FCC Commissioners at the last hearing. I am so glad that this organization will be here doing the same thing again for this hearing. Thank you to WMNF for hosting this Workshop! Yes! Everyone who cares about this country, attend this Important Hearing!
