The Second Annual WMNF Peace Awards Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts (formerly known as the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center), at the Ruth Silbiger Lobby inside the Carol Morsani Hall, 1010 North W.C. MacInnes Place Tampa, Florida 33602.

Join us as we recognize those who have made great strides and efforts in the areas of human rights, social and economic justice, freedom, and fostering understanding through the media. In addition to the honorees, Democracy Now! Host Amy Goodman will give the keynote address and WMNF favorite Eliza Gilkyson will perform.

WMNF will present the Peace Legacy Award to Nancy Cole and to John and Sheila Stewart. A long-time peace activist, Nancy Cole manifests her work through youth in theatre as the artistic associate of the Gorilla Theatre in Tampa. John and Sheila Stewart are known for their lifelong activism against nuclear arms and the death penalty, and working with youth to teach them peace and justice.

Bok Tower Gardens will present the Edward Bok Peace Youth Award to Destiny London, who raised $1,000 through her school James Elementary in Tampa for WMNF’s Haiti Relief Drive.
