WMNF Offering Free Air Time To State, Local Candidates
Rob Lorei about about 2 years ago
WMNF 88.5FM has pioneered giving free air time to candidates. And we’re doing it again this election season. Candidates who are on the upcoming ballot on November 2nd may begin calling in 90 second campaign messages to the WMNF News Director’s line at 813 238 8001 x115. They can also e-mail an MP3 file to firstname.lastname@example.org. Messages that last longer than 90 seconds will be edited by the radio station to fit the 90 second window. The contents are up to the candidate. We want them to adhere to FCC guidelines on obscenity and refrain from personal attacks. The message may include (but is not limited to) the name of the candidate, geographic location of the district, the position and district number for which they are running, the campaign web site and the reasons why they deserve to be elected.
WMNF 88.5FM covers six counties in West Central Florida including Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Sarasota, Manatee, and Polk. Candidates for local and statewide races are welcome to submit messages. The messages must be recorded by the candidates themselves, we will not accept substitutes, actors or campaign commercials.
This invitation is open to all candidates who have qualified to be on the November 2nd ballot regardless of party affiliation.
All candidate’s messages must be submitted by 10AM on October 27th, 2010. The messages will be played back on October 27th and 28th at 1:05PM ET. Candidates will be granted this free air time on a first come, first serve basis.
