Services for Larry Harrell are Friday and Saturday, March 7th & 8th

Mr. Larry Devon Harrell, 63, of St. Petersburg, passed away Feb. 25, 2014. "Larry the Legend" was the first voice you may have heard on WMNF, if you were tuned in when we first began broadcasting in the new building. He was a substitute programmer for Kwabena Dinizulu & others.

He was born in Climax, GA, and moved here in 1953. Larry was a Sergeant in the US Army, and retired from the US Post Office after 37 years.

Larry Harrell is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Curry Harrell; son, Rashad Harrell; two daughters, April Harrell and Autumn Harrell; three brothers, Donald Ray Harrell, Bobby (Angela) Harrell and Daniel Harrell; two sisters, Josephine Oliver and Darlene (Bruce) Walker; and three grandchildren.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Friday, 3/7/14 at Creal Funeral Home, located at 1940 7th Avenue South St. Petersburg, Florida 33712. Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Saturday, 3/8/14 at Greater Mt. Zion AME, located at 1045 16th Street South St. Petersburg, FL 33705 ~ For more information, please call the church: 727-894-1393.

So sorry to hear of Larry's passing.

I had the privledge of working with Larry about 10 years ago. I tried to listen to his shows whenever I could. Simply one of the finest gentlemen I have ever known.
