Singer-Songwriter Maggie Council Wins National Contest

Tampa's own gifted singer-songwriter and WMNF favorite, Maggie Council, just won first prize in Motema Music’s Voice of My Beautiful Country national contest. The competition asked artists to express themselves about living in the U.S.
Maggie's song, "Bingo Bus on the Trail of Tears" from her CD Only Ones, was chosen by award-winning jazz singer Rene Marie for the honor.
Maggie will be flying to Washington D.C. and performing the song live during Rene Marie's concert at Blues Alley on July 6.
