Tornado Warning for Pinellas County

The National Weather Service in Ruskin has issued a Tornado Warning for Pinellas County in west central Florida this includes the cities of Clearwater, Largo, Pinellas Park, Seminole, Downtown Saint Petersburg, Saint Petersburg, Saint Pete Beach until 1230 PM EST

National Weather Service meteorologists detected a waterspout 10 miles southwest of Indian Shores or 13 miles west of Seminole moving east at 25 mph.

The tornado will be near Indian Shores and Indian Rocks Beach by noon EST, Seminole, Madeira Beach and Belleair Beach by 1205 PM EST, Largo and Belleair by 1210 PM EST, Kenneth City by 1215 PM EST, Highpoint and Pinellas Park by 1220 PM EST.

This includes Interstate 275 between exits 6 and 32.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

The safest place to be during a tornado is on the lowest floor of a building in an interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use blankets or pillows to cover your body and always stay away from windows.

If in Mobile homes or vehicles - evacuate them and get inside a substantial shelter.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 PM EST Thursday evening for southwestern Florida.
