Robert L. Lewis, Florida Highwaymen Artist, Demonstration

Pinellas Park Art Society welcomes Florida Highwaymen artist, Robert L. Lewis. “Florida Highwaymen” are African American artists who began painting Florida landscapes in the 1950s. They developed their own techniques, shunning traditional methods and painting quick, colorful images of Florida’s tropical beauty. They sold their creations from the trunks of their cars along Florida’s east coast, hence the name “Highwaymen.” Mr. Lewis will demonstrate & discuss his painting techniques, which preserve Florida's history through art. This event is a benefit for the Art Society's Scholarship Program.
