WMNF Film Series: In Sickness and In Health

The documentary film In Sickness and In Health shows at Beach Theatre on Wednesday, May 7 at 8:30pm as part of an exciting new venture: The WMNF Film Series which is organized and directed by the WMNF Film Committee, established in February of this year.
In Sickness and In Health, is a timely documentary that initially follows seven gay couples in the state of New Jersey who filed a lawsuit with the hopes of legalizing same-sex marriage. At the heart of the film is one couple, raising 5 children, who find out during the filming of the documentary that one parent has ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. The proposed constitutional amendment, The Marriage Protection Amendment, which defines marriage between a man and woman exclusively, will be on the Florida ballot in the upcoming November elections. This movie brings to light the discrimination same-sex couples face every day in the courts, hospitals and from society as a whole. The WMNF Film Series will hold a riveting panel discussion following the movie. To date we have Rebecca Steele of he ACLU, Nadine Smith of Equality Florida, Mark Tishman of MetLife. Rob Lorei, WMNF News Director will moderate.
The movie will have a one-night-only showing on Wednesday, May 7, 8:30pm at The Beach Theatre, 315 Corey Ave., St. Petersburg Beach. Tickets are $8 advance and $10 at the door.
