Four bands re-create the greatest guitar album of all time, 40 years since its release, on Eric Clapton's 65th birthday. "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" is an astonishing evocation of unrequited love. The entire album and especially the title song are celebrated for the real life circumstances as much as for its emotionally involving sound. It reflects Eric Clapton's tortured obsession with the wife (Pattie Boyd) of his best friend (George Harrison). Clapton later admitted that "being Derek was a cover for the fact that I was trying to steal someone else's wife."
Side One - Captain Obvious and the Duh Patrol w/ guitars by Mark Warren and Craig Van Tilbury and Freight Train Annie on vocals
Side Two -Butternut, featuring Damon Fowler and Greg Poulos
Side Three - Ted Lukas and the Misled
Side Four - Steve Connelly and the Lesser Gods
Plus, Talk To Mark, John Q, and Brian Merrill and Jeremy Thomas, and 13 year old guitar prodigy Mike Imbasciani will each play several Clapton songs.
