Black Taxi

WMNF listeners who saw Brooklyn's Black Taxi at Tropical Heatwave or their January show at Skippers know that they are an incredible live act, smashing an anything-goes punk ethos together with pop sensibilities, unparalleled energy, and brilliant songwriting. The result is a raucous stage show, heavy on harmonies, spitfire guitar licks, body paint, and all manner of instrumentation. Their style has been described varyingly as "grit-pop" or "dance punk", and though their songs hint at the Talking Heads, Cake, and Daft Punk, they are driven by something entirely new and infectious.

Black Taxi's new release "We Don't Know Any Better" is climbing quickly up the college radio charts.

Florida Kilos

Shawn Kyle of The Beauvilles and Katherine Kelly of Sons of Hippies have joined forces for this brand new band that has been causing a sensation in their shows since forming earlier this year. It's a big beat sound drenched with reverb that is irresistible.

Alexander and the Grapes

St. Petersburg's Alexander & The Grapes play indie rock melding diverse influences worn boldly on their collective sleeves. Their sets range from folky sounds to experimental noise. The whole deal is anchored by the strong songwriting of Alexander Charos.
