<title>The ECM Label from the Outside</title>
      <link>http://www.wmnf.org/program_specials/show/165</link>
<description>Celebrated for the &#8220;pristine ECM sound&#8221; made famous by artists like Keith Jarrett and Gary Burton ("jazz for people who don't like jazz"), ECM is a far more varied label than it is given credit for. For this special, Step Outside will unleash a torrent of remarkable, ill-mannered, raw-nerved sounds by label mates from Krakatau to the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Terje Rypdal to the Music Improvisation Company with Derek Bailey, Anthony Braxton to Steve Tibbetts, Carla Bley to Heiner Goebbels, Joe Maneri to Evan Parker to Hal Russell&#8217;s NRG Ensemble, as well as the dark sides of Garbarek, Jarrett and Towner.</description>
