WEST TAMPA OPPOSES CENTRO SALE TO CHURCH by Roxanne Escobales

Florida Democrats are still licking their wounds, after Jim Davis’s loss to Charlie Crist in the battle for Governor. There is also disappointment that State Senator Skip Campbell lost out to Republican Bill McCollum for Attorney General.

But Alex Sink’s victory over Tom Lee for CFO is an obvious bright spot. Another one is in the State House, where Democrats picked up 7 seats, defeating two incumbent Republicans and capturing five open slots.

Tampa City Council disses Beltway proposal by Mitch E. Perry

The Executive Director of the beleagured Tampa-Hillsborough County Expressway Authority, Ralph Mervine, has resigned after being questioned about his link to a gay pornographic film production company in San Diego.

Mervine reportadley decided to resign after reporters at the Tampa Tribune asked about records listing him as owner of Coast Productions, which says on its web site has been producing erotic male videos since 1996.

Although the Jennings/ Buchanan race is still officially undecided, 2 other Congressional races in Florida - among 2 of the most important and contested races in the battle for the House, went the Democrats way on Tuesday night.

Sarasota Election will go into a Recount by Mitch E. Perry

There will be an automatic machine recount in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, as Republican Vern Buchanan is barely holding on to a 368-vote edge over Democrat Christine Jennings.

A Florida Party official criticizes Jim Davis campaign by Mitch E. Perry

A day after his defeat, Democratic candidate for Governor Jim Davis and his campaign team now have plenty of time to ponder their loss and wonder what, if anything, could have been done differently.

For weeks leading up to the election, there have been some complaints about how the Davis campaign ran their race.

One such critic is Screven Watson, former Florida Democratic Party Executive Director and an adviser to Rod Smith in his primary campaign against Davis.

He says that a Hillsborough deputy's cruiser was stationed outside a Hispanic Church this morning with its lights flashing. Violence at a Dunedin Polling Station by Mitch E. Perry

There was a report of violence at one polling station in Dunedin this morning. It involved supporters of Chris Hrabovsky, a Democrat running for the Florida House in District 45 in Pinellas County.
