Davis and Smith tied? One Poll says so in race for Democratic nom. for Gov by Mitch E. Perry
08/11/06Although a St. Petersburg Times poll shows Jim Davis up by 14% over Rod Smith in the Democratic race for Governor, another shows that Smith climbing back a statistical dead heat with the Tampa Congressman.
The poll by Associated Industries shows Congressman Davis at 21%, Rod Smith at 20%, and Still – a huge majority – 59%, still undecided with only 3 ½ weeks before the election.

08/11/06Last week the Hillsborough County Commission gave tentative approval for a massive new transportation project that could alleviate traffic problems in the future, but for critics, it was the wrong project.

And according to a recently released report from the University of Minnesota, that means that out of the Southern states, Florida has the highest proportion of children lacking coverage. 08/09/06Americans on Monday morning awoke to stunning news: The world’s 2nd largest traded oil company – BP had shut down its Prudhoe Bay oil field in Alaska because of corrosion in of its 3 pipelines. The company says it will replace about 73 percent of 22 miles of transit pipeline for the biggest oilfield in the country , which could take months.
The loss is significant – 8 percent of the country’s domestic crude oil supply.
