Rod Smith comes out in support of Jim Davis - and conservatives come out for Crist by Mitch E. Perry09/08/06
3 days after their increasingly bitter campaign ended, Florida State Senator Rod Smith came out today to officially endorse Jim Davis for Governor.
In a press release, Smith said that Davis will be a governor who Floridians can count on to stand on the side of Floridaâ€™s families and stand up for Floridaâ€™s values. He said he was urging all of his supporters to join him â€˜enthusiasticallyâ€™ backing Davisâ€™s campaign for governor.

John Russell wins Democratic Nomination for Congress for District 5
On Tuesday night, Dade City registered nurse practitioner and Democratic party firebrand John Russell won the race for the Democratic nomination for Congress in Floridaâ€™s 5th Congressional District.
He will now face Ginny Brown-Waite in November.

In a Sarasota yesterday, activists who want to get rid of electronic voting machines had their day in Court.
The activists want to have County Commissioners approve a measure that would go before Voters in November, asking them to weigh in on whether or not they wanted to continue with the touch screen voting machines that have become so controversial since their implementation before the 2004 election.

Five days before the 5th year anniversary of 9/11, today in a speech President Bush responded to Supreme Court ruling that military tribunals for prisoners at Guantanamo Bay were illegal. Out of the Gulf of Mexico states, Florida is the largest contributor to the 5 billion dollar recreational fishing industry. But if thereâ€™s not enough fish in the sea that could end.
