Funding approved for $500M in transportation projects listen

The Hillsborough County Commission today approved a plan to spend $500 million over the next five years on fixing roads.

The proposal was the result of work done by a Task Force on Transportation headed by Commissioner Ken Hagen. Addressing the Board today, Hagam said the question his fellow commissioners needed to ask is, were they ready to begin addressing the Tampa Bay area’s transportation needs.

The House of Representatives will vote Friday on H.R. 3221, an energy bill that addresses global warming and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This morning, energy experts from scientific and environmental advocacy groups held a telephone media briefing on the bill. Karen Wayland, the legislative director of the Natural Resources Defense Council, outlined the positive aspects of the bill and the negative things were left out of it.
