A cutting-edge legal field known as Earth Jurisprudence seeks to fortify legal rights for the natural world. Today in Orlando, the Barry University School of Law hosted the country’s first symposium on the topic.
The Center for Earth Jurisprudence is a collaborative initiative of the Miami area’s Barry and St. Thomas Universities. That center, along with the Barry Law Review, sponsored the symposium, "Framing an Earth Jurisprudence for a Planet in Peril."

Yesterday a state advocacy group called for new changes in the restoration of civil rights to ex-felons.
Last April, Gov. Charlie Crist and other members of the Board of Executive Clemency approved a change that sped up some civil rights restorations for ex-offenders who had finished their sentences in Florida.
But the procedure is still anything but automatic. And a group, the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, has been authorized to see how the process might work better.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram reported today that the Texas Democratic Party is warning that its March 4 caucuses could be delayed or disrupted after aides to White House hopeful Hillary Clinton raised the specter of an "imminent" lawsuit over its complicated delegate selection process.

Last night Tampa City Councilman John Dingfelder held a town hall meeting in South Tampa to discuss his proposal to bring campaign finance reform into city elections.

A lawsuit filed by a Tampa Democrat against the Democratic National Committee over Florida’s loss of all of its delegates to the convention has been given a second life.
