In Vincent Bugliosi’s explosive new book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, the former prosecutor presents a legal case that puts the country’s 43rd president on trial in an American courtroom for the murder of more than 4,000 American solders fighting in Iraq.

WMNF spoke yesterday to Bugliosi about some of the evidence he unearths in his case.

Sarasota commissioners: Tax money won't pay for ballpark listen

Several Sarasota County Commissions today said they objected to published reports saying they are being sneaky in possibly using property taxes to pay for a new spring training home for the Boston Red Sox.

In a meeting Tuesday, commissioners agreed that would not use any sales tax for a new park, but Commissioner John Thaxton admitted that the conversation had grown somewhat muddled.

An editorial in Sunday’s St. Petersburg Times slammed Pinellas County Democratic Congressional candidates Max Linn and Samm Simpson, who are competing along with Dunedin Mayor Bob Hackworth in the Aug. 26 primary.

At a meeting last week in St. Petersburg intended to help Azalea residents understand the plume of pollution pervading their neighborhood, several politicians were in attendance, including U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and state Sen. Charlie Justice.

Beginning in 2010, Hillsborough County Schools will go three years without constructing a single new school because enrollment numbers are not expected to increase as quickly as in the past.

This morning, the Hillsborough School Board held a workshop on the district’s five-year construction plan.

A group of local military veterans and Republicans gathered at John McCain’s local campaign office in Tampa this morning to watch his Town Hall Meeting in New Hampshire.

Although billed as a rally, organizer Chris Hart of Veterans For McCain, said it was also a way to discuss national security issues.

Vincent Bugliosi’s new book titled, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder is growing in popularity. This week it is ninth on the New York Times bestseller list for non-fiction books.

Bugloisi is the former Los Angeles County prosecutor who has won 21 convictions in murder trials, including Charles Manson. His previous book, Reclaiming History, about the JFK assassination, is now being made into a 10-hour HBO miniseries.

At the Green Party Convention in Chicago earlier this month, former Georgia Democratic Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney was nominated as the Green candidate for president with Rosa Clemente as her vice president.

Although McKinney is relatively well known to progressives around the country, Clemente is not. So WMNF spoke today with Clemente, who is a community organizer, journalist and hip-hop activist.
