Last night, the 2010-2011 Hillsborough County Charter Review Board met at County Center in downtown Tampa. The meeting was just the first in a series to be held this year in order to conduct a comprehensive study of all phases of county government. WMNF’s Rob Piccirillo reports.

The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Board today mulled over how it will propose a sweeping transit overhaul to voters in November. The ballot question will ask Hillsborough voters whether they want to fund the multi-billion dollar project which includes light rail, bus line and road improvements with a one percent sales tax increase.

Tomato pickers are still lobbying for better wages for farm workers in operations they call modern-day slavery. Last Saturday Tampa residents including University of South Florida students and people of faith protested in front of a Publix supermarket because it has not agreed to work with Florida tomato pickers to end a range of alleged exploitations in its supply chain.
