Elected officials from across the region are learning how to improve transit. The group Transportation for America is hosting a summit today at the Val Pak headquarters in St. Petersburg that features experts on the topic as well as planners from cities with model transit systems. St. Pete City Council’s Jeff Danner said funding infrastructure is a major hurdle for the area.

A proposed constitutional amendment would eliminate privacy rights and could be another conservative step toward outlawing abortions in Florida. Vivian Taylor, volunteer coordinator for the group I Am Choice, said at a press conference in St. Petersburg Amendment 6 would demonize women for their reproductive choices.

At least two people associated with Occupy Tampa were among the nearly 200 people arrested yesterday in New York City during the one year anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
One is Billy Livsey.
