The iconic inverted pyramid that is the St. Petersburg Pier may have just rung in its last new year. St. Pete City Council members voted last year to have the Pier demolished at the end of this May. The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR today called on the FBI to investigate a shooting attack in which a man perceived as "Middle Eastern" and Muslim was shot in the face at least twice with a pellet gun.
CAIR officials said the man attacked was harassed with racial slurs as he was leaving a Walmart at 3 this morning. A police report indicates that the shooting victim was asked if he is Middle Eastern and whether he is Muslim. He reportedly answered "...
