Mayor Pam Iorio gave her annual State of Tampa address today at the Convention Center in downtown Tampa. Her speech coincided with the news that the negotiations for the 76 million dollar Tampa Museum of Art project have stalled and may already be dead.
The original plan for the new museum, which would be triple the size of the current bldg., had in its requirements that 40 million dollars in private finances be guaranteed before construction.

The city council was scheduled to meet to get an update on progress in funding the art museum. Instead, city finance director Bonnie Wise read a letter from the mayor to the city council, informing them that the museum had fallen short of its fundraising goals.
