CHILDRENS ADVOCATE CALLS FOR NO MORE POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS IN WAKE OF CHARLIE-Mitch Perry
Jack Levine is a longtime Children's Advocate here in Florida. He is now President of the telecommunications group Advocacy Resources.
Over the weekend, Levine, well known for all his work fighting for Florida Children for over 2 decades, wrote a manifesto declaring that - in the wake of the natural disaster that Hurricane Charlie has wrought, that ALL candidates for office should NO longer accept financial contributions to their campaigns, but instead urge their supporters to contribute to groups helping in the re-building of those communities affected. Levine says he has received over 1800 emails since this declaration was made over the weekend.
WMNF spoke to Levine today in Tallahassee :
(roll tape#1 o.q."over the next 10 weeks") That's longtime children's advocate Jack Levine, discussing his Pledge he'd like ALL candidates running for office in Florida to adhere to through the election - to Not hold fundraisers, or run negative television ads - but urge all their supporters to make contributions to the victims of Hurricane Charlie.
