Florida voters facing issues of abortion and religion
On today’s Last Call we concluded our series on the proposed constitutional amendments that will appear on the November ballot with a look at Amendments 6 and 8 dealing with the two contentious issues of abortion and religion.
We also discussed the merit retention questions facing Florida Supreme Court Justices R. Fred Lewis, Barbara Pariente and Peggy Quince. The state Republican Party has joined with other conservative groups in an unprecedented attack on what they call “judicial activism” forcing the sitting justices into actively campaigning to keep their positions.
The basis of our analysis comes from the non-partisan Collins Center for Public Policy with our guest this week, Dr. Frank Alcock, a professor of political science at New College and a former Senior Fellow at the Collins Center.comments powered by Disqus
