THE VIETNAM VETERAN'S PEACE MOVEMENT - Radioactivity09/07/04
Beginning in 1967 and through the end of the Vietnam War, there was a strong peace movement involving veterans of the Vietnam War. Our guest was Gerald Nicosia, author of HOME TO WAR: A HISTORY OF THE VIETNAM VETERANS' MOVEMENT. Nicosia describes the growth of the movement, its influence on the national peace movement, John Kerry's role in the Vietnam Veterans Against the War and efforts by the Nixon administration to undermine the groups. He also says that compensation for Agent Orange damage and treatment for post tramatic stress syndrome were developed because of pressure placed on the federal government by veteran's opposed to the war.
