WMNF received a call this morning about an effigy of a black man being hung from a tree on the 5000 block of Martin Luther King Street in North St Petersburg. We spoke to Omali Yeshitela of the UHURU movement.

Angry neighborhood residents had called the media, but George a police spokesman, said there was nothing to investigate unless a citizen called the police to report a crime.

In the early afternoon, Nan O’reily, a neighborhood resident, said the effigy had been torn down

Bill Profit, spokesman for the st Pete police department told WMNF at 5pm that the situation had been resolved and no charges were being filed. ACT
