There are over 1,000 U.S. Servicemen and women who have been killed in Iraq since the U.S. invaded Iraq last year… Bringing an extremely personal meaning to those deaths this weekend in Tampa was Cindy Sheehan, whose 24 year old son was killed in Sadr City in April.
Sheehan is featured in 1 of television ads made by a group called Real Voices.Org….. Speaking at Viva La Frida on Saturday Night, Cindy Sheehan spoke about the hurt she feels, losing her son to war that she doesn’t believe in (roll tape#1 o.q. like my son did) Cindy Sheehan’s appearance was sponsored by the women’s activist group, Code Pink. San Francisco based Activist Medea Benjamin is a co-Founder of the Group, who has been to Iraq several times since the invasion began….She says that what’s NOT being reported in enough detail in the American media are the daily attacks on American soldiers (roll tape#2 o.q.a college education) Benjamin said that in her travels in Iraq, she heard repeatedly from citizens who have endured negative experiences with the U.S. Military (roll tape#3 o.q.over and over again) Another co-founder of Code Pink is San Francisco activist Andrea Buffa, who has made several Tampa Bay Appearances in the past few months, leading protests against President Bush and Vice President Cheney…….(roll tape#4 o.q.we need to do) The next appearance by one of the candidates will be this Wednesday morning, when Democratic Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards comes to Clearwater…….
