MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE PASSES-Andrew Stelzer
Last night, 71 percent of Floridians vote to increase the states minimum wage to 6.15 an hourââ¬âit will be the first increase since 1997. Amendment 5 was one of the least controversial of the 8 constitutional amendments on the ballot this year, polls leading up to the election consistently showed voters would support an increase in the minimum wage. ACORN was one of the groups that organized the campaign; WMNF spoke to Frank Houston the state field director for Florida ACORN about what the raise in the minimum wage will mean to the people of Florida.
