EXTENDED ELECTION DAY? LAWSUIT AGAINST TERESA LEPORE-Andrew Stelzer

12/01/04

All 67 of the states elections supervisors are in Orlando this week; meeting to discuss how to improve the states elections systems. Yesterday saw the emergence of a proposal to extend the official election day to longer than just one day, and perhaps make it a week or longer. Under some of the proposals being floated, Voters would also be able to vote anywhere in the county, instead of being assigned a specific voting precinct. WMNF spoke to Hillsborough County of Elections Buddy Johnson, who is in Orlando for the supervisor’s conference.

BUDDY

That was Hillsborough county supervisor of election buddy Johnson; yesterday the supervisors’ conference featured a tribute and retirement ceremony for outgoing Palm Beach county supervisor Teresa Lapore. But the series of speeches by her colleagues was interrupted by several members of black box voting, who entered the room, and came up on stage to present Lapore with a lawsuit they had just filed, protesting Lapore's refusal to provide them with voting records they requested as part of their investigation of voting irregularities throughout the state of Florida and the entire country. Andy Stevenson works with Blackbox voting, we spoke to him this afternoon about yesterdays incident.

BLACK BOX LEPORE

In order for Teresa Lepore to reach her 30 years of government service required for retirement, she will be go to work for the next six months as an election fraud investigator for Palm beach county.
