WILL TOMMY ZEIGLER'S DEATH SENTENCE BE OVERTURNED?-Andrew Stelzer

12/20/04

In 1976, Tommy Ziegler was sentenced to death for the killing of his wife, in-laws, and a customer on Christmas Eve in Winter Garden, Florida. But in the last few years, DNA and blood evidence has emerged which indicates Ziegler’s’ innocence. About 2 dozen citizens gathered this morning outside of the orange county circuit court, before a hearing began to determine if the new evidence can be allowed in court, and if Zeigler could be ordered a new trial. WMNF spoke with one of the organizers of the rally; Abe Bonowitz, the director of Floridians for alternatives to the death penalty.
