TRIP SPURS TALK OF BUSH 2008 BID - Mitch Perry
As Governor Jeb Bush continued his tour of tsunami-ravaged South Asia today, speculation again surfaced in certain areas of Florida that the governor , despite denials, is contemplating a run for President in 2008.
Palm Beach Republican Congressman Mark Foley told todayââ¬â¢s Miami Herald , ââ¬ÅNo question about it, people are talking..Jeb is just a natural.ââ¬?
Just last month, Bush appeared exasperated when reporters asked about presidential aspirations, noting that after his second term ends in 2006 he plans to move home to Miami and ``figure out what I'm going to do. But it isn't going to be running for president. I promise.''
Friends predict a return to real estate and perhaps involvement with a private foundation, but none rule out an eventual return to politics.
Daryl Paulson is a professor of Political Science at the University of South Florida- St. Petersburg. WMNF asked him today - does he take the Governor at his word that heââ¬â¢s not going to run for President ? (roll tape#1 o.q.ââ¬?that his brother hasââ¬?)
Thatââ¬â¢s USF Political Science Professor Daryl Paulson, discussing Governor Bushââ¬â¢s trip to South East Asia as a personal emissary from the Bush Administration conveying sympathy and concern about the devastating tsunami, and the potential that this trip has on his political future.comments powered by Disqus
