NEW REPORT CITES TOP 10 REASONS NATIONAL PARKS NEED MORE MONEY - Mitch Perry

A new report released today by the nonpartisan National Parks Conservation Association says that funding for America’s national parks is at a ‘bear’ minimum and lists the top 10 reasons parks need more money. The report calls for and has received immediate support from Congress…as a bi-partisan group of Congress introduced new legislation today to fund America’s National Parks.

Ron Tipton is the Senior Vice President for Programs at the National Parks Conservation Association. He spoke to WMNF today, shortly before the new legislation was to be introduced in Congress. We asked him what he think Congress would do with the proposed funding (roll tape#1 o.q. “the Big Cypress�)

Their New Report, “Faded Glory: Top Ten Reasons to Re-Invest in America’s National Park Heritage�, says that the Bush Administration’s proposed Budget for national parks is insufficient to address the myriad number of issues that the Park Service contends with.
