"NO ONE LEFT BEHIND - THE LT. COMM. SCOTT SPEICHER STORY"08/07/02
One bit of unfinished business from the last time the U.S. fought a war with Iraq is the status of the first American casualty of that war, Lt. Commander Speicher. He was originally declared dead after his plane was shot down during the first few hours of the conflict. Now comes forward Amy Waters Yarsinske, a former U.S. Naval intelligence officer who has written NO ONE LEFT BEHIND (Dutton Publishing). In the book she says there is strong evidence that Speicher's plane was downed by friendly fire and that he survived. She says he is likely now being held by the Iraqi government as a bargaining chip.
