NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST WAL-MART11/21/02
More than 100 organizations (labor, civil rights and church groups) have banded together to put pressure on Wal-Mart today. They are calling for the company to institute a living wage, health benefits, respect for labor rights and greater emphasis on safety for customers and employees. Wal-Mart is now the nation's largest private employer and one of the most profitable corporations in history, yet critics say that profit comes at the expense of small business owners and workers. Our guest was Greg Denier, spokesperson for The United Food and Commercial Workers' Union in Washington, DC, a member of the Day of Action coalition.
