WHERE DO YOUR FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS GO?
Our guest was Ruth Flower, senior lobbyist with the Friends Committee on National Legilsation, a Quaker group focusing on civil liberties and federal spending issues. She says that 42% of your federal income taxes pay for current and past military. FCNL estimates the U.S. spent $783 billion in FY05 (the year in which we are now paying our taxes) for past and present military activities. She discussed military contractors, military spending by other countries, where welfare and foreign aid rank in the spending chart (low) and the number of lobbyists on her side v. the side of military spending.comments powered by Disqus
