Critic of Foreign Aid discusses new book by Mitch E. Perry
In the past 5 decades, the rich countries of the West have spent over $2.3 trillion dollars on foreign aid, yet , some would say, there is very little to show for it.
According to eminent development economist William Easterly, part of the tragedy of global poverty is the story of the squandering of 50years of aide and resources.
Easterly is a professor of economics at New York University, and a senior fellow at the Center for Global Development. Previously, he worked as a senior research economist at the World Bank.
Heââ¬â¢s just written a new book, ââ¬ÅThe White Manââ¬â¢s Burden: Why the Westââ¬â¢s efforts to aid the rest have done so much ill and so little goodââ¬?ââ¬Â¦WMNF spoke with him earlier this week about his central theme(roll tape#1 o.q.ââ¬?as fast as possibleââ¬?)
