40 years ago, there was no public debate on immigration in the UniteD States, and in fact, there were no experts. In the early 1970’s a man from Michigan founded several groups that would become the backbone of the modern anti-immigration movement. John Tanton was, and still is a member of the sierra club, and he was concerned about the overpopulation of the planet. Tanton is the subject of an article of the May issue of In These Times Magazine, written by senior editor Chris Hayes. In this, the first of a two-part interview, WMNF spoke to Hayes; we began by asking him--who is John Tanton?
