Thousands of teens were expected to spend the day at the coliseum in St Petersburg today, to hear from a panel of speakers featuring Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons, and Benjamin Chavez, founder of the Hip-hop summit action network, a group that has been organizing the hip hop generation in New York City to become politically aware and active. Eric green is the founder and executive director of everybody’s youth united, a non profit organization in St Petersburg which works to steer local youth towards positive activities. He told WMNF that the goal is to take what’s been built in New York, and try to do the same in the bay area.
