SHOULD TASERS BE USED TO SUBDUE THE ELDERLY, CHILDREN, AND PEOPLE WHO ARE PHYSICALLY RESTRAINED?
TONIGHT AT THE STETSON LAW CAMPUS IN TAMPA THERE WILL BE A mock trial designed to investigate the use of tasers on children, seniors and restrained individuals. The event is sponsored by the upper Pinellas and Hillsborough chapters of the NAACP.
Representatives of law enforcement, the ACLU, and defense attorneys will make presentations to a 12 person jury made up of community members.
Joining us for this segment were Pat Spencer and Carolyn Lighty of tampa branch of the NAACP. Tonight's event will be conducted like a mock trial, with supporters and opponents of current stun gun regulations making presentations. A panel of twelve community members will make a decision at the end of the presentations.
