Ray Arsenault, winner of this year’s NELSON POYNTER AWARD FROM THE ACLU, discussed his involvement as a local and state chair of the ACLU. Arsenault is a professor of history at USF in St. Petersburg and is currently writing a book on the Freedom Riders, the wave of civil rights workers who attempted to integrate public facilities in the South in the early 1960s.
