Marco Rubio on Property Insurance crises by Mitch E. Perry07/13/06
Last night on the Evening News, we interviewed Marco Rubio, the incoming Speaker of the House in the Florida Legislature. Rubio and 2 other Republican House colleagues are going around the state, having “idearaisers –their collecting ideas from Floridians about ways that government can make life better for Floridians. They have a website – 100ideas.org – and will collect the 100 best ideas and publish them in a book.
These days there is perhaps no hotter issue than the escalating property insurance crises in the state – fueled by insurance companies having to pay out significant claims because of the last 2 hurricane seasons.
WMNF asked Marco Rubio if what the state legislature did this past session - in which they provided $715 dollars to the state run insurer of last resort, Citizens, as well as setting aside $250 million for a loan program to help capitalize qualifying insurance companies, and $250 million for a program to help people upgrade their homes to better withstand hurricane-force winds was sufficient (roll tape#1 o.q.is what we need)
That’s West Miami Beach Republican Representative Marco Rubio, the incoming Speaker of the House in the Florida Legislature.
