HOUSE SET TO VOTE TODAY ON EXPANDING "FREE TRADE" TO OMAN

07/20/06

Eric Rubin of the Florida Fair Trade Coalition joined us for this segment to talk about the pending vote in the U.S. House to expand a "free trade" agreement with the Middle East nation of Oman. Rubin says that Oman has a history of human rights, labor and environemntal problems (none of which are corrected by this agreement) and this agreement is not in the best interest of American workers. Among the human rights problems in Oman according to the Florida Fair Trade organization is that human trafficking and identured servitude continues and has not been outlawed in that country.
