ORLANDO BANS FEEDING HOMELESS IN CITY PARKS-Andrew Stelzer
The Orlando city council is facing widespread criticism after passing an ordinance, which bans several grassroots groups from feeding homeless people in city parks. The city of Tampa tried to institute a similar policy in 2004, after the group food not bombs had been conducting free feedings downtown in Massey Park. In Tampa, a compromise was reached after several members of food not bombs were arrested. In Orlando, the ACLU is now threatening a lawsuit after the 3 to 2 vote on Monday night. Today, WMNF spoke with George Crossley, the president of the central Florida ACLU.
