MARTY O'CONNELL ON COLLEGES THAT CHANGE LIVES-Andrew Stelzer
In the next few weeks, millions of American teenagers will head off to college for the first time. Many of them have engaged in an increasingly competitive and stressful process of applications—competing to get accepted to a short list of elite colleges and universities. But a new book by Loren Pope who’s been writing about and studying higher education for more than 40 years, says there’s no need to chase the ivy leagues, and in fact, its smaller, more intimate and experimental schools that produce a better education. The New Book, “Colleges That Change Lives---40 Schools That Will Change The Way You think About Colleges has just been released, and it includes tow local schools-New College in Sarasota has been added to the list; Eckerd College in St Petersburg was on the list before and made it to the top 40 once again. WMNF’s Andrew Stelzer spoke to Marty O’Connell who’s continuing Author Lauren Popes research. He began by asking her, what is it that’s makes these 40 colleges so special?
That was Marty O’Connell, speaking about the book Colleges that change lives. For more information on the book, log onto www.ctcl.comcomments powered by Disqus
