DAVIS CALLS ON SMITH TO CONDEMN NEGATIVE FLYER By Roxanne Escobales
This week a flyer circulating throughout South Florida accused Democratic gubernatorial candidate and US Congressman Jim Davis of being soft on Hezbollah. Speaking to WMNF’s Roxanne Escobales today Davis said his opponent Rod Smith has something to answer for.
A brochure sent out by the 527 political organization Florida’s Working Families attacked US Congressman and Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Jim Davis this week. It said that Davis did not show up to a Congressional vote to condemn the attacks by Hezbollah on Israel. In doing so it cast suspicion on Davis’s loyalties.
Davis blasted this kind of negative campaigning.
And Davis went one step further by challenging Rod Smith, his opponent for the Democratic nomination, to speak out about the attack against him.
ACT: I call on Rod Smith
The 527, Florida’s Working Families, is funded by US Sugar. And Rod Smith grew up on a farm and is known to be friendly with agribusiness. Well, Rod Smith was not available for comment but Smith campaign spokesman David Kochman denies any involvement by his boss.
Kochman said that Smith is not affiliated with Florida’s Working Families and had no knowledge of the brochure until he was phoned by a reporter.
The primaries take place on September 5th.
