Paulson on Katherine Harris by Mitch E.Perry08/30/06
The Orlando Sentinel is writing that it’s up to Governor Jeb Bush to get involved in next’s week GOP Senate Primary Race.
The Sentinel came to that conclusion after writing about what they’re calling frontrunner Katherine Harris “latest boneheaded gaffe.
That would be an interview Harris gave to the weekly journal of the Florida Baptist Conference in which she said the separation of church and state is a "lie we have been told" to keep religious people out of politics.
She went on to say that "If you are not electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny and pressure, if you're not electing Christians, then in essence you are going to legislate sin."
The Sentinel says that it’s now up to Jeb Bush to intervene in the race and make an endorsement – the Sentinel suggests he support Will McBride.
Daryl Paulson is a professor of Political Science at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg ..WMNF asked Paulson about the possibility of Bush actually doing that sometime before the election (roll tape#1 o.q.head on, so to speak)
That’s Daryl Paulson from the University of South Florida….We’ll hear more from him tomorrow on the Governor races here in Florida.
