Alex Sink : Let’s Get it on, Lee! by Mitch E. Perry
Senate President Tom Lee defeated his chief opponent, State Senator from Celebration, Randy Johnson, in the race for the state’s Chief Financial officer position.
Property insurance- the biggest issue amongst Floridians this election year, was a topic of debate during their race.. Johnson had called for an immediate freeze to insurance rates this year – though state law does allow for such rate hike moratoriums.
Lee will now face former banker, Alex Sink. Sink is a Democrat from Thonotosassa in eastern Hillsborough County. She boasts that she is the ONLY candidate in the race for CFO with more than 25 years of financial leadership expertise.
WMNF caught up with Sink – whose husband, Bill McBride, was the Democratic candidate for Governor 4 years ago – last night in Tampa (roll tape#1 o.q.every day Floridian)
Sink’s opponent, Brandon State Senator Tom Lee was instrumental in the insurance bill that passed the legislature earlier this years. He has said that more needs to be done with insurance, but the bill – which included a $715 million dollar bailout of Citizens Insurance – was a good first step.comments powered by Disqus
