AN INTERVIEW WITH FORMER CIA ANALYST RAY MCGOVERN09/07/06
Ray McGovern was a CIA analyst for 27 years, serving seven Presidents. He gave intelligence briefings to every president from Kennedy to the first President Bush. He works with Tell the Word, the publishing arm of the ecumenical Church of the Savior in Washington, DC. McGovern is a co-founder of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity. Mcgovern discussed with WMNF what he considered to be pressure on intelligence professionals to skew the intelligence leading us into the Iraq invasion. He says the documents exist to establish that the Bush administration knowingly misled the country into believing that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. He also discussed the intelligence establishing a case for invading Iran, the President's attitude toward the Constitution and the German populace's terrified response to the burning of the Reichstag and how it mirrors the fear pervading the U.S. in the wake of 9/11.
