Bob Graham slams Bush on national security by Mitch E. Perry09/13/06
Today in Tampa, former Florida U.S. Senator and unsuccessful Presidential candidate Bob Graham campaigned with local Democratic Congressional candidates Kathy Castor and Phyllis Busansky at the Port of Tampa.
The Democrats used the Port as their location to highlight national security – an issue that they think will be a winner for them in the Congressional Elections in November.
Hillsborough County Commissioner Kathy Castor is the Democratic nominee for Congress in District 11 – and is heavily favored to represent Tampa in Washington come November (roll tape#1 o.q.we need to do that)
If so, that would be a reversal of the last 2 national elections. Senator Bob Graham, who served on the Senate Intelligence Committee after the 9/11 attacks, says this country has a ways to go to be secure (roll tape#1 o.q.thousands more)
Bob Graham was one of only 23 Senators to vote against giving President Bush the authorization to go to war in Iraq….WMNF asked him if he agreed with his fellow Democrats that the President’s speech on the 5th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks was too political (roll tape#2 o.q.you’re danger is)
Standing at the Port of Tampa, the former U.S. Senator said that the U.S. could learn about Port safety from others around the world (roll tape#3 o.q.The Port of Tampa)
