VOTING RIGHTS GROUP FILES LAWSUIT FOR REVOTE IN DISTRICT 13 CONGRESSIONAL ELECTION12/05/06
This segment featured an interview with Lowell Finley of Voter Action. He's the co-Director of Voter Action, a national, non-partisan election reform group, and lead attorney in the non-partisan voters' lawsuit concerning the 18,000 undervotes in Sarasota County. He has spearheaded the non-partisan legal action, arriving in Sarasota the day after the election when he began building the case and collecting evidence. Last week he observed the audit process of some of the election machines used in the Sarsota County election. Finley has amassed a legal arsenal of testimony and evidence against all of the voting system vendors through litigation in ten states. He was instrumental in keeping Sequoia OUT of New Mexico and now he's working in Florida. Finley discussed with WMNF's Rob Lorei the recounts, audits, conflict of interest of having state employees conduct the audit, possible "trap doors" in the electronic systems, ballot layout, possible voter "turnoff" resulting in the large number of undervotes, sourcecode, his views on a paper trail, his client's lawsuit and much more.
